performance upgrade question
i was thinking of upgrading my stock '03 powerstroke with a "bundle" that will add 138 HP and 240 lbs-ft of torque. the bundle consists of a tuner, intake, intacooler, and exhaust. should i upgrade my transmission during this process or do you guys think it could wait. just looking for input any will be appriciated.

that wouldn't be the banks "big hoss" bundle would it lol
That doesn't seem like NEAR what you should be making with a everything you mentioned??? I am sure some others will drop by - but yes... I'd say to upgrade the trans at least with a VB - but don't "have" to to do the upgrades you're planning |

thanks for the posts...i have an 03 with the 6 'O. it is the banks big hoss bundle that i speak of. i dont really know much about it except the numbers they advertise look good. i currently use my puckup as a daily driver but i plan on building it up piece by piece to pull a sled/ drag all my buddies around in their dodge's. lol. but i want to start off with pouring money into the motor and getting my numbers up, just cause i feel like the ol truck is lacking the balls i think it should have. its got about 53K on it, my truck sits in my garage about 6 months out of the year while im in the "sand box", that explains the lower miles. anyway if i were to get the big hoss bundle it wouldn't shread my stock tranny would it???

dont go with the big hoss bundle man, (well first to answer yur initial ?-no tranny upgrades arent needed at that point)
now ![]() the sct tuner is the most bang for the buck on tuners, a 4" turbo back from another well respected company ie. mbrp will do the same as the over priced banks set up, and afe makes an intake that is superior to just about all other intakes after all these mods you will spend about half what banks will cost ya and way better hp numbers |

I asume you want lots of power if you're talking about sled pulling and drag racing. If thats the case, Banks Power is gonna be a waste of time and money! For some good power you'll need to do some shopping around, but I would probably go with an SCT tuner or DP tuner, AFE intake, a 5" exhaust, a good set of gauges, and snow performance water/meth kit! That is probably cheaper and will give way more power! Talk to some of the vendors on this site for prices. Good luck!

thanks for the posts ya'll. i appreciate the info. i plan on adding a water/meth kit eventually...i plan on building up my rig over the next 3 years.(yea its gonna take a while...funding is getting cut...the wife is going to school LOL) like i said i appreciate the input i was just worried that my stock tranny wouldnt be able to handle the extra HP and TQ. oh i only wanted the banks big hoss bundle becasue of the power PDA that monitors effin everything, and it puts all your controls on that pda as well. ill have to look into other options and see if its really that much cheaper. i know the banks setup was around 1700 bucks.
