blown excursion diesel, repair or junk
Question I have is that I own a 2004 ford excursion with the 6.0L turbocharged engine with 198000
miles. Ford dealer states that I have blown head gaskets, fuel pump, radiotor leaking, egr malfunction. I love this truck and need it to pull my boat. Should I rebuild current engine, replace engine with rebuilt 6.0l, suggested that I put the 7.3L engine in instead, or junk truck. Truck is in great shape and rides very well and has new tires, brakes, etc.. Please help, also live in washington, dc area Last edited by bzexcursion; 07-13-2011 at 05:05 PM. |

Wow, I would get a 2nd opinion, maybe try a non Ford shop.
Where are you at. Most of us know of some good Ford shops here and there. But if you love it, keep it and get it fixed. No on the 7.3 install. Doug |

Wish I could help you out. I know of a couple of race car shops, one of them works on diesels (tuning). Maybe they can point you in the right direction to some one.
Justins Performance Center: Home Page Mark McKeown: McKeown Motorsport Engineering, Inc. or go ask the guys at Speed Unlimited over there by the air force base. |

you wouldnt be able to transplant a 7.3L without doing the trans as well since the torqueshift you have in it now will not bolt up to the 7.3L...
my recommendation is just fix your current engine... or try and find a good used 6.0L to put into it... either way your looking at a really good amount of money to get it up and running again... |
