diesel fuel
I'm curious as to when ULSD came to some of your area's.I've seen some posts that sound like it just came to town for some of you.It was my understanding that the EPA required all highway diesel fuel to be ULSD by june of last year
All the gas stations I frequent around the St. Louis area have had ULSD since spring of last year.Honestly I havent noticed any difference in my truck with the new fuel, what has been your experience with it?

There are about 10 smaller refineries that have until 2010 to switch everything to ULSD, due to financial reasons. So in some areas, you can still get LSD, but it is mainly only in areas close to the smaller refineries. After 2010, all highway and non-highway diesel will have to be ULSD. Just a tad bit of info.

I made the switch last year.

about 80% of the fuel stations across the nation have ULSD.......about 65-70% of them have only ULSD. Some do still have both.....
In california ALL over the road diesel is ULSD...other states have been slower to switch but most have ULSD at the pump. Honestly if you can get LSD and have a 6.0 or 7.3 i would run it on that due to fuel economy issues....but more and more stations of the few left that have LSD wont continue to have it..... Fords cetane booster, or other fuel treatments are advisable with ULSD....they will help minimize the fuel economy loss and add lubricity to the fuel... |

what about running off road diesel in a pick up ?

I actually just ran 2 tanks of LSD. It's been nice. Getting better fuel mileage. I have found it at a couple of truck stops. Most the places I have around me have ULSD.
As far as off road diesel. Yeah you can run it, but I would not want to get caught with it in my tank. Big time fines. |

We've been running it for a year in Nevada. Our fuel comes from California so we had some of the first ULSD.
I noticed slightly better mileage in the 7.3's, Cummins and Cat motors. |

I use LSD all I can but sometimes ULSD is all there is. My main concern is engine problems with it. Has anybody had failures since the switch that might be traced back to ULSD?
