ATF as fuel

I have a friend who is a ford mechanic. He has his co-workers save all the used ATF that is not dark & burnt looking. He filters that & fills the rear tank of his 97' F-250 ( 7.3 ). He keeps straight diesel in the front tank. He always starts the truck on diesel & switches tanks after it warms up. in winter he runs 50/50
diesel/ATF in the rear tank. He's done this for over 3 years without any obvious problems. Any opinions on this?????
