7.3 turbo problem

2002 7.3 with Banks exhaust, AFE airbox, tuned chip, 160k miles. Acellerating on to freeway, didn't pound it or anything, but when I did heard loud POP up top, hissing sound for a few seconds, slight oil smell that dissipated in a few minutes, but lost 100 percent of boost according to gauge. Can hear slight turbo whine when I accelerate, but no boost at all. No oil leaking anywhere or coming out exhaust. Hoping I've just had a boot failure? Hoping someone might have an idea? Thanks.

Check ALL the boots, they do commonly blow off, do you have the stock CCV? they tend to get soaked with oil and make quite the mess of popping off. pull off your intake and spin the turbo, see if it has any shaft play then you'll know..

I just got done pulling my intercooler tube/boots apart, took them all inside, SOAKED them in degreaser, AND Dawn... let SOAK in more degreaser, dried them.... still had oil coming out of them when I re-installed them. YEARS of oil buildup.

If you haven't done the CCV mod... I highly recomend it.
