Hi folks... still chasing this... stock '07 6.0 v '09 6.4... either year would have to have less than 35k miles and in excellent condition... they are out there...
If a 6.0, I would invest the $$ to bullet proof it and forgo any remaining warranty. As for the 09/6.4, there seems to be a lot of low mile trucks out there on Autotrader with a lot of warranty left (a phone call would verify it), but I'd hate to buy a newer truck 'thinking' I have some warranty left and I don't (poor maintenance/no records or an unseen issue), and then foot the bill for a big problem... like a fuel system issue. So my question: how many of you actually take a newer truck (or any truck I suppose) to a dealer to have it checked out? I'm trying to avoid buying a truck "under warranty" from a private seller (or dealer) and take it to Ford for future repair or service and have them tell me they can't honor the warranty because... So what have you done? |

If the vehicle is bought as a second owner the warranty is still valid and will be honored, as long as the truck was not rejected during anytime the previous owner.. All you need to do is take the VIN and have a warranty status ran thru the warranty clerk before you buy.

... thanks... just to be clear, I would do just what you suggested for any vehicle with a supposed warranty. What is was trying to say or meant to say is... does anyone take a vehicle that is under warranty (after you just confirmed the warranty/oasis status with a phone call to a dealer) to have them inspect it to see if there are any warranty disqualifying mechanical conditions (to include lack of verifiable required/recommended maintenance or servicing!!!) that went unnoticed or that did not exist the last time the vehicle was taken to a dealer, if in fact it was ever serviced by a dealer. So I ask again... anyone out there that does this? AND, what would you ask the dealer to look/inspect for... or what should this inspection include?
My thanks again! |

Yea, if I was buying from a private owner, I would do that. If you agree that is the truck you want, tell the owner you will buy it only if you can make an apointment to have it gone over. Good idea.
I got mine from a dealer so they had to go over it with me
