Question Question about DIY intake system????????

I put together my DIY intake today. Napa 6637 filter and 3" of 4" pipe. Removed factory air box. I have a few questions. My 1st question is how can I keep the intake tube from kinking . I was able to get it to only be slightly oval but I feel like it could kink at any moment. Also I notice slightly more turbo whine is this normal? Lastly how can I check for leaks around the connections? I did notice an increase in power in the higher rpm range and feel like the engine will be able to breath much better with this filter.

I would fill the tube with some clean shop rags to act as a filler- when your done shaping, just pull them out... I think the whine is from the lack of silencing function that the stock box does- you'll get used to it and enjoy it!
Leaks- maybe try some warm water or washer fluid around the connection and see if its sucked dry? I am at a little loss on that one...

IF i remember right on the early 99's to get it to sit right you had to turn the rubber intake tube a little to avoid the pipe kinking
