2002 F250 7.3 Auto Tranny Question
So I have a 2002 F250 7.3L, with an auto tranny. I'm looking to change the fluid and filter in my tranny. I assumed the Plug in the middle of the pan was a plug until I gave it 8 turns and seemed to get nowhere fast. I did count my turns and put it back in the same positon as when I took it off. My question is "Is this a drain plug? Or some sort of adjustment screw?" Is this tranny like others and you just remove the bolts on the pan to drain the fluid?
Also I posted pictures to see if anyone knew how to ID the tranny. The dipstick says "MERCON" on it so I have a case of DEXRON/MERCON that I planned on using. I've heard rumors that MERCON V is compatible with the system. Fuel Filter: I've replaced the fuel filter on the top of the engine, but my understanding is that you need a special tool to remove the lower filter. Is there any way around using the special tool? Or is it best to just buy one? Anyone know where to find one? Thanks everyone! |

First of all that is your drain plug on the pan yes, i dunno why its not unthreading.. take your time and keep turning, carefully.. second off.. thats your fuel pump. your truck only has one fuel filter(mine actually has two, i have a small one on the frame by my fuel pump, since i removed my mixing chamber in the tank.. thats another mod you will learn about later lol).

Cool. Thank you. I assumed the fuel pump was in the tank and a big pain in the *** to get to like any other rig.
