if the banks product was proven to be the reason of part failure then the part would not be warrantied. i personnaly wont go banks cause of the cost, and what i have read on this site. i have learned alot here and have spent way less on my current mods than i would have with banks. i would listen to what these people have to say about certain products, they really know their stuff.

As one of only a few guys on the site running Banks stuff I am really happy with the performance the ease of install and the overall outcome. The only thing that I don't like about my Banks 6 Gun is it doesn't blow enough smoke, other then that it is very nice to be on the fly changing power settings so I can average 18-19 driving back roads and then crank it up to dust a ricer. JMO

When it comes down to it, NO aftermarket product is going to be warrantee safe. If it wasn't on the truck at the factory...you run the risk of voiding a warranty in part. BANKS is just another programmer and if you misuse it, and, ohh, say pop a headgasket b/c you were beating the crap out of your truck, and the dealer says, "well, it was your banks programmer over fueling and blah lbah blah....it popped the HG...sorry...warrantee is voided." And there isn't much you can do.
My clutch is slipping after about 40K miles. I can't call LUK or the tranny shop that installed it and tell them that they HAVE to cover it under warrantee. B/c I have been running around for the last 40K at WOT on the 140 extreme tune and doing a LOT of quick take-offs, boosted 4wd launches, etc. It's not their fault. It's mine. I've been beating on the clutch like a red-headed step child. EVERY part has a failing point...and adding power is just going to bring that failing point up in time. Eventually, EVERYTHING breaks! I'm willing to bet you a 12-pack of beer that BANKS isn't going to goto bat for you if/when the dealer voids your warrantee b/c the 6 gun or whatever broke your truck. Though, remember...it is the dealers responcibility to PROVE that your modification caused the fault. A 5" exhaust is not going to make your stereo cut out and that aftermarket stereo isn't going to cause your turbo to grenade itself. Just a little brain-food. |
