2001 vs 2006
I just purchased my 2001 Ford F250 7.3L with 120,000 miles and a new transmission at 90,000. Its in pretty good shape and i am looking at spending about 5,000 in upgrades and modifications, which really does not go that far. A buddy of mine who has a 2006 F250 is trying to encourage me to flip the 7.3 for cash, add the 5K I would use for mods and take a small loan and get either a 2006 or 2007 F250. My current truck is an extended cab, which I prefer over the crew cab, but I suppose I would get used to the larger cab. Any initial thoughts on this approach. Should I keep what I have or go for a new model? I know some of you have done this and i wonder are you happy or regret the move?

i'd keep the 7.3 and 5k will do alot for one believe it or not, get a diy intake, custom tunes, exhaust, in tank mods, Regulated Return, gauges and enjoy it for a long time, otherwise you're lookin at dumping a few thousand in the 6leaker to bullet proof it anyway.. even then i'll drive my 7.3 for many years to come.

Here we go again. Fwiw I went from a 2000 7.3 to my current 2006 6.0. There was nothing wrong with my 7.3, but my 6.0 beats it in every aspect (comfort, ride quality, interior, suspension, transmission, power, etc.) You are going to get mixed reviews on this subject, but your best bet is to go out and test drive a few 6.0's and see how you like them. If you do decide to get one, everything you need to know to make that 6.0 run as long as a 7.3 can be found on this site. Good luck and keep us posted!
