High Idle

I did the high idle mod this summer. The truck must have a factory high idle also. I forgot to flip the up-fitter to turn on the high idle came out to the truck and it was idling at around 1100 rpm then after a while it would go down to normal idle speed. Is the high idle mod used to just hold the rpm@ 1200? How much better for the truck is doing that than just letting the truck do it itself? Just curios i guess.

They'll auto-high idle when its below 40ºF. The advantage of the switch is that you can high idle it in any temp (say to boost A/C in the summer, or running lights/compresor or something). You decide instead of the computer.
