Guys there has been a long debate as to if the ford gold coolant is what is plugging oil coolers or if its the sand from the blocks. I am certain that this coolant is a MAJOR contributor to the plugging. I think it traps the sand when it forms sludge like this in my wife's 2008 FOCUS with 80k on it. We flushed the cooling system at 60k just for preventative maintenance. There is a whitish slimy sludge that is built up on the filler neck on the radiator. The day after we flushed the system there were still pieces of silicates? floating around in the recovery tank. Never seen good old green coolant get this nasty this quick in a 4 banger car. Here are some pics of what i saw today when changing oil. Sorry pics aren't that great.
