My Trade...

I have been off of the forum a while, but I am back with good news. First of all, I got married two months ago, and two weeks after that - what do you know - a little one is on the way! I wanted an Excursion when I bought my 2004 PSD, but I could not find a PSD anywhere in Mississippi and no one would give me a verbal trade quote on the Avalanche I had at the time (Dec 2005). I did not want to drive all the way to Texas to get ripped off, so I focused on finding my current truck, which is an XLT Sport and I LOVE it.

So I am looking for a pre-03 7.3 Excursion a month ago when we first found out. I wanted to get a PSD one before they all dried up. Same issue with the dealers - no trade quote on my 04 PSD. Also, I was upside down compared what they wanted to give me on trade. I gave up. However, the other day I was looking on eBay and a person 3 hours north of me had a 2003 Excursion Limited he had bought to try out to see if he liked it. His family loves it, but he needs a truck for his business. So I called him up and turns out my truck fits what he needs.

Now I know I said I wanted a 7.3, but they are tough to come by! I know the early 6.0 engines have issues. I have replaced the EGR and had the power steering go out on mine. But I figured as long as I take care of it and use it primarily as a daily driver I should be fine. The previous owner babied this Excursion like I do my truck so I should be fine. OASIS said it only had the EGR valve replaced, so wish me luck.

Now on to some questions. This truck I am getting is 4x4, Limited trim, and Forest green in color. so...

My truck, Crew Cab 4x4 w/stock tires, gets 18.5-19 when it behaves. What kind of mileage do the 6.0 Excursion PSDs get?

EPSD has 81000 miles on it. Where can I look besides a dealer to see what Technical bulletins need to be addressed?

What is the best Stainless Steel Brush Guard?

Any other advice out there?

Garrett

Man, sounds like a pretty sweet deal if it works out. I am sure Marc or someone will be able to help you out with the technical stuff. Check out the tech files too. I think there is some stuff there that will help ya out. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

What are you getting post-modification. I do have a Diablo that I was going to use on my truck, but I burned an EGR while using it and I chickened out on using it anymore, especially after the dealer reflashed the programming. Truck actually ran better and had more power after I had it flashed...
