Smoke

For fear of sounding like SUCH a girl .....

Everyone talks about SMOKE.... I guess I always miss looking in my rear-view... However last Friday, traveling to Central Oregon, I was heading up a grade out of Salem and low and behold I mashed the throttle and looked in the rear-view at the same time. I SAW SMOKE!

I do feel really sorry for the guy on the motorcycle behind me though.

Really wanted to call and share the great news with someone/anybody but I was headed into a "not so great service" zone.

I hope you all can appreciate my excitement!

don't you love it when it blows smoke everywhere. it makes it worth every payment i send to the bank for the next 4 years.

i should take some pics of my friend's 6.5 diesel, it has a lot of miles on it and burns oil like a 2 stroke engine so it rolls smoke like crazy. as for my powerstroke it only blows white smoke all the time

White smoke? I think that I would be concerned, especially if you get it and the engine is already 'warm'.

On the smoke issue, I'm really confused. The only time I've gotten smoke is cranking the engine when it's in the teens without letting the glow plug indicator go out. I've had white once, when there was so much moisture in the air, visibility was less than a quarter mile, and again, when starting it for the first time in the morning. If black smoke is too much fuel, why does everyone seem to want it? I think that I would prefer no black smoke when I tromp the pedal as it tells me everything is working as it should and I'm not 'wasting' fuel.

Am I wrong in my thinking?

Well as for the black smoke it is unburnt fuel... but it is all in fun.... Espically if you are able to roll the smoke...... It doesn't mean that your truck isn't running right... Alot of after market products (like my edge juice w/attitude) will push more fuel in at low boost levels to help you reach the boost level quicker..... I will almost have to bet that one of these days you guys will find how much fun it is to smoke people out....... But I would have to say the best way to do that is to get a truck with a manual........ I can make my truck roll the smoke for a good ways........... can't really do that in a auto............
