no they get better then that cuz a near by dealership had some seminar from ford with the new powerstroke 6.4 and they were pulling 38ft 5th wheel with a show truck and an engine on a cherry picker as well as a bunch of other **** and they were pullin it from state to state putting on presentations and i go in the truck they were pulling it with (f450) and clicked through the lieometer and it said it was getting 9.3 with the trailor..... so it has to get better then that with out the trailor

i dont think so. from what im hereing all these new diesels from ford, chevy, and dodge are getting crappy mileage. if diesels are gonna get crappy mileage due to all this emission crap other that the power whats the benefit to owning a diesel over a gasser to us as the consumers and to the enviroment. they say these new engines run cleaner for the enviroment at your expense in the long run and can anyone answer this question. How is it better for the enviroment if you get 5 mpg worse mileage and burn more fuel yet the engine runs cleaner than if it got 10 mpg better thus burning less fuel and has less emissions and it is very possible with todays technology to do that especially with diesels? if you all notice since 02-03 diesel fuel mileage has dropped some of it has to do with this new fuel but with the amount of technology in these new engines mileage should be going up not down. i remember the old 235 horse 7.3 i used to drive got 18 mpg while towing 13000 lbs of cattle. i hate to utter the words and even have the thought but my buddies truck without the 6.0 and with the 6.8 v10 with the new torqshift tranny gets an average of .5 mpg less while towing than my 6.0 and the same when not towing so gassers are getting to be more appealing to me if i were to get another new truck and if the 6.4 is worse WHERES THE BENEFIT???

i agree with the whole emissions thing.... its starting to get outa hand specially with the regeneration crap and the egt that it produces..... that is just stuped it makes me mad to think about it...... but there must be something not normal bout your truck cuz im getting better milage with my heavy foot and my 35's in my diesel engine then stock 5.4's and 6.8's are with there older ( non heavy footed drivers) o ya i forgot to mention..... how in hell is deisel all of sudden 20 cents more then regular gas when it cost's less to make and there isnt as high of a demand for it compared to gas
