V10 vs Diesel
Thinking about getting a 2000 F250 V10! Does anyone no of any bad things about the V10 What are the costs of maintaing compared to the diesel? Its for my landscaping co.

The only think bad I have heard of the v10s is they have a tendency to short out sensors. More specifically stuff like the cramk sensor. That and bad fuel mileage. My buddy owns a 2001 v10 and it runs great with plenty of power to spare. Consider normal maintenence though. How hard do you think its going to be to replace something simple like spark plugs on that long of a motor? At least 3 on each side has to be buried up under the firewall. But maintenence cost I cant imagine would be much more than any other gasser.

dont the v10s also shoot out spark plugs? -poorly threaded heads?

My friend has an 04 V10 and he gets 15-17mpg, I get 15mpg with my 6.0. He bought it to pull a ski boat, he bought it used and blew a head gasket after a few trips to the river.

Wow, that isnt bad as what ive hear. Friends got one tha never see's over 10 mpg.

Not sure I fugured somone on here would know about them! As far as plugs and regular maintenence goes I dont know what Im more aftaid of very expensive injectors and labor or $5.00 plugs with more labor. Dont know trying to figure out pros and cons!

If you are going to have employees operate the truck, I would lean towards the 6.0, they will knock the rod bearings out of the triton. My experience with fleet V10's is they are not very durable.

i had a V-10, not a good motor. go diesel.....

Gas Mileage is bad from what I hear but the power is very nice on them.
