when to rebuild tranny?

i just bought a 99 F250 superduty with the 7.3 powerstroke and the 6 speed s6-650 transmission for $4500. The truck is good except for a fuel leak. I noticed that the sort of jams into place going into second gear. plus my clutch is slipping. How many miles are these transmission good for before rebuild? The truck is a one owner and is on 233k miles on the stock tranny. Thanks

the syncros might be bad. and if it slips, the clutch needs replaced. you can never say when to rebuild them since every one drives differently.

i was thinking the syncro was bad also.

the only time the clutch seemed to slip was when i was on the interstate. i was going 70 mph in 6th gear. i think my rpms were at 2k if i remember right. anyway i put it to the floor while passing and my rpms just sort of hovered at around 2900 rpms and i gained speed really rapidly. any ideas?
