New 7.3 Owner from Alabama
Whats up guys? Been poking around here for 2 days or so. I picked up my first 7.3 diesel yesterday. It is a '00 F250 CC 4x4. Sucker has 295,XXX miles on it and seems to be in great shape still. I used to work at the ford dealership so I had my 17yr diesel tech friend from the dealership check it over since it has so many miles and he said he thought it was in good shape and that he would buy it in a heart beat so, I bought it. He said 295k wasnt nothing for the 7.3 to handle.
After driving it I found the door lock actuators are working half the time and the overhead console is dead. Got on here and found the fix for both problems. I will be doing the console repairs today. It has a hypertech sticker on the door so were thinking it has a program in it but not 100% sure. Although if your hammering down on her it shifts really really hard into D. But normal driving it shifts fine. Might reflash the pcm and see if that takes care of it. Anyhow been wanting a 7.3 truck for a few years and finally ran across one I could get and here I am now. JOHN Sorry I just found the "introduce your self" area. I didn't see it before. congrats on the truck man. it might have a shift kit in it if it only does it at higher RPM.

Well that was easy enough. Looks like I have 1 of the 620s missing, another fell out in my hand and another is about to fall out!

Got the overhead console working again. Thanks to the help here. Ran to radio shack and pick up a pack of resistors and shes back in business. Looks like were getting 13.3 mpg or so it says. How accurate are those things anyhow?

Couldn't tell ya. I know mine make me happy when it says 18mpg, but I don't complain about 15 either. Usually means I been having too much fun.
