Buying salvage title truck????

Hey guys i have an oportunity of buying a stolen recovered salvage title SD.. its a 2001 lariet 4x4 auto with a 9" lift... wheels and tires have been taken off as well as the radiator and all the mods. no stereo and no rear seat... but the truck was running before it was stolen... it is regeared to 4.56 so i for sure would have to put some 38's back on it..

truck is 3500 bucks and i would have to put about 2k into it with wheels and tires... only thing is if i decided to sell it how much could i really get for it with a salvage title? it has 105k on it

here i a before pic

and after

what you guys think?

buy it and sell my white truck
but it fix it and sell it for profit
or just pass on it

either way im gonna sell my white truck....

man you got to watch out on the theft recovery stuff if they wernt nice when they tore stuff off of it you could be looking at a chunck of change to fix wiring and who knows what else just so it will run. but the price isnt bad you could get it for that and part it out and then take the part out money and your truck and trade up. thats what i would do.

all they took from the engine compartment was the AFE stage 2... the stereo was the only electrical thing they took from the interior and they disconnected. they didnt cut it out... it looks like they were going to completely strip it professionally but were caught while doing it....

I would buy it to part it out only. Then take that money plus the money from the white truck to get that Ex you want

I would buy it and fix it, the truck is mostly complete, about 2-4k worth of parts and you got a dang nice truck under 10k...plus its got low miles on a 7.3.....thats just my 2 cents, if you want to part it out, pm me, i might take some parts off your hands.

usualy a theft recovery salvage title will bring you about 70% of blue book. I wish I could find a deal like that around here I would jump on it in a heart beat!

here in MI you cant get full coverage insurance or a loan on a salvage title... if you fix it up and have it inspected then it becomes a rebuilt title, you can get insurance but cant get a loan for it... not sure how it is in other states but thats now it is here in MI. My 2000 has a rebuilt title.

just something to think about if you fix it up and want to sell it. the buyer would have to have cash to get the truck

Looks like a decent project vehicle.

I agree, though, check with your insurance company.
