It was a great night to run. I was amped and ready to go. As I said earlier on I was feeling something in the 14s for the diesel timeslips. I got to the track around 6:30 and the staging lanes weren't deep, so I went quickly. My first time dissapointed me. I had a killer R/T (reaction time) of .099, so it kind of made up for the time. I ran a 15.90... I used straight 2wd and I didn't hook at all. So I knew 4 wheel was the way to go. I did know already, but I knew I had a bunch of runs ahead so I was up to try anything.
Next run came up soon after, I popped it into 4wd and sat and pre-loaded the turbo. My truck had a rough time keeping at the line, I red lighted... I was embarassed, but it was a BAD bad red. I think about a .10 before it went, so I just stood on it and ran it out. At about 35 i remembered to turn the 4wd off. This time was better; 15.3. I was getting there... I knew it had more though! Someone had a single cab, short bed, HEMi 1500 there. He ran a 14.9 and that was cool... I give him respect, but I didn't like that dodge was holding a high rank.
An Excursion owner came up and asked if we could line up... sure! He had the 7.3 with exhaust and a few small things done. He wanted a truck and a half. I agreed, whats the worst that could happen. I was already sucking it up anyway, so I wanted to have fun.
The dodge owner wanted to race, but I didn't feel like wasting my time. The track help wanted me to race the Excursion too, so they made sure we met up at the tunnel. I looked over and there we both were, next in line. 7.3 vs. 6.0 I pumped out a small burn out, for 425ea. I'm not roasting them, sorry guys. I turned on the 4wd and rolled up to turn the two ambers yellow. I waited... the tree fell... I let him go to what looked like a truck and a half. Pre-spooling the turbo the whole time. I was up to about 22psi I would guess. Dropped the brake and STOOD on it, give it a few seconds and I caught up and passed him. Running my favorite and best time of the night, a 14.6!! I was AMPED!! The track was talking about my truck and all (not boasting, honestly, it did feel good though). They liked the rim and wheel set up and the runs were getting better by the minute. Oh, and the 7.3, he ran a 16.0 I guess I had the HEMi, remember that 14.9? He only ran it once... haha Love it! Lots of questions and stares all night. I ran that time and jumped out, BiG Diesel had done what I had come for!
Thanks for reading my ramblings. As I said before, this is a BONE STOCK 2006 6.0 with ONLY the SixGun and Speedloader. After tonight, more is to come... and i CAN'T wait.
Oh, and so y'all don't think I'm pulling legs, here's the pic for ya! (Yes, it's the slip from the Excursion and all...) The R/T is so high because I let him get the jump and some time like I said I would.
Safe racing!
