No its uncommon that it lasted that long. Get the rebuild kit and then flush the cooling system and put in a coolant filter kit from thedieselsite or make your own.

alot of sludge can i do this or does the dealer need to, dlr says radiator, oil cooler, egr cooler, heater core, hoses,
4000 to clean and replace all above and it may need head gaskets
5200 all above w/ gaskets
6600 if it needs gaskets after 4000 and i dont do them with the 5200 repair

You can do it yourself and save a lot of coin but it is labor intensive from what I am told.

if we did it, we would do our EGR delete kit, studs, gaskets new oil cooler misc fluids and parts,ac recharge etc,etc..and not including the radiator (everything else could be flushed) you would be at 4100.00

honestly, its high miles to owe that amount, you would be luck to get 12-15 with that mileage.
