used X or new Ford Diesel?

I got a good job now and in about a year I will be looking into a new truck.

My 97 has pretty low miles. I have only put on 12K in almost 3 years but i need a transfer case and a dana 60 and probably a new tranny when times comes around. I know water has gotten into it multiple times.

It is paid for now and I was leaning towards a stock 7.3 excursion if I can find one lol or possibly one of those new Ford Diesels when they come out....
if i go that way ill be wanting a 4 door 4x4 but have no clue what that would cost.

bottom line I want a new-er reliable truck to NOT trash around like I did my 97

what would you guys do?

I would keep the truck you have and buy a used 08/09/10 6.4L after the new engines are out.

Pretty well. Lots of power with a tune/delete and very few problems

Well the 6.4 has made 591hp( I think) with just a Intake, tuner and DPF delete. And this was on all stock hardware.

I always liked the expedition when we were bombing around sand trails in Arizona.

it had the extra weight in the back and rode so much smoother with the coils in the front, unlike my leaf springs so I always wanted an expedition. I would not rule out an 08 by any means though. Thanks for the input everyone. It costs me practically nothing to keep my 97. only mods now lol
