What part is this?

What is this part? It makes some sort of high pitched "boop" sound whenever I let off the excelerator after quickly mashing down on the pedal.

EGR actuator, it will close a hatch to re direct your egr gasses straight into the intake instead of through the cooler when the engines cold to aid in warm up. I bet that's not making your "boop". The sounds probably coming from your wastegate. It's on the turbo just behind the EGR.

It only happens when I accelerate from a stop, then quickly have to let off the accelerator. A good example would be accelerating from a stop sign, and then having to hit the brakes bc the guy in front of me stops suddenly. Or accelerating up my short driveway, and then hitting the brakes to come to a stop and park. The mechanic at ford said its the wastegate dumping excess air that was quickly taken in upon acceleration, but needs to be dumped after I quickly decelerate.

Makes sense...but last night i had my wife punch the accelerator while I peeked under the hood. The "boop" noise occurs when the arm on that actuator closes. In other words....the truck accelerates...turbo winds up....the arm on that valve opens....then she would let off the pedal.....turbo winds down for a second and the arm on that valve would then retract and close. The second that valve closed is when the noise occurs. The damn thing drives me crazy. I guess i just need to keep my radio on?

That's strange. My wastegate makes a pssssshwooootzzz sound. A "boop" noise everytime I heard my pssssshwooootzzz sound would be very annoying...
