Anyone running BFG"s?

Is this a good deal?
My friend traded in his truck in and took off a set of BFG All Terrain 305/65/20 (load E) tires with 4,000 miles on them. He's super easy on everything he has and they look brand new. He paid $1200 for them and offered them to me for $600.
So,
Will these tires rub?
Are they as quiet as the Michelins?
Being 305's, will I need fender flares to keep from getting rock chips?
I've had one truck with larger than stock tires (they were BFGs) and they were hard to balance and out of round, so any words of wisdom are really appreciated.

You will be ok with those. And I say thats. Great price for those tires. I like the trail grapplers, made in USA.

They are about 12 inches wide. If you have factory flares I would think it would cover.

I run BFG's and think they're great. Definitely wear better than the Michelins (which almost disappeared before my very eyes during a vacation with the 5th wheel - I actually rotated the tires halfway through the trip) although the BFG's do seem a bit louder.

If you don't buy that set for $600 I will!

You will be fine. Its an easy fix if you are unhappy with how the wheels set. Truck wont look so wimpy either...

Loud, haha....... I run mud grapplers and trails, so those would be super quiet. You will like them. Bro-in law got like 60k out of a set of those bfg's

Thanks for the quick response guys. I can always depend on you all when I need help. I'm hoping I don't have to put flares on it with the 305's. While the flare do look really good, I hate to put any more money into it right now.
Does anyone have the 305's without flares? If so, do they throw mud all over they truck?
ON EDIT: I'll check to be sure tomorrow, but I think these are 305/55/R20s, not 65's. I think they are shorter than the stock tires. They came off a 2010 truck.
