2015 Super Duty King Ranch "Gasser" .... Almost

You may have read on some of my earlier post that after 15 years of owning Powerstrokes, that I decided to give Ford's gas engine a try and ordered a 2015 F250 King Ranch (Ruby Red) with the 6.2 engine. Well, it came in a few days ago, with everything I ordered, except for the 6.2 engine. Seems there was a "clerical error" when the order was originally placed.

Long story short: While the Dealer was frantically looking on Ford's Locator Service trying to find a "gas" truck equipped like the one I'd ordered, I took the 2015 Powerstroke out for a stroll. After a few miles, I told him if he'd make me a Smokin' Deal on the diesel, I'd buy it. It's now sitting in my driveway!

Moral to the story: Once a diesel owner, always a diesel owner.

First, congrats on the truck.. I love the Adobe interior.

Did they not give you a copy of your order or the DORA? I always request a Dora to insure the order is correct. Trust but verify.

They didn't give me a copy of the order. I've ordered a dozen cars, trucks and vans from this same Dealer and this is the first time they've screwed-up. I'm actually glad, because I've had second thoughts about the gas engine ever since I placed the order.

I'm coming out of a 2013 Platinum Powerstroke and can really feel the power difference of the 2015. The Platinum has the black interior and I like the adobe in the new truck much better. I've never liked the quality/feel of the leather in the 2011-14 King Ranch trucks. The 2015 solves that problem. It looks, feels and smells great.

That is a great looking truck, congrats.

Have you ever driven a gasser super duty? I drove a 2008 F-250 work truck for one day, it was a dog. Granted this was in Colorado at about 7000' elevation, and it was the puny 5.4. Truck was empty but still more of a dog than my F-550 6.0 (stock) with a 14,000 lb flatbed behind it (also a work truck).

The 6.2 is probably much better, but still no comparison to the 6.7

They sold me the truck at Invoice less 1/2 their hold-back less the rebates.

Having been a customer for years, they made every effort to keep my business.

That's a beautiful truck, the reds awesome and the 2 tone works really well, usually I'm not a fan of 2 tone but that combo is great!

A friend of mine has a 2012 F250 with the 6.2. I'd never actually driven one but have ridden with him many times and he was pleased with the performance, that's why I decided to try one. Most of my driving is in the City, driving from jobsite to jobsite, with an occasional road trip pulling my 8,000# fifth wheel camper, so the gas engine "seemed" to make more sense, especially considering the amount of regenerations my 2013 was doing.

I'm sure that I was destined to be disappointed with the 6.2, at least until I put some miles on it and forgot (I'm an old guy and forget stuff) about how much better the 6.7 performs. Thank goodness that fate intervened and kept me in the Powerstroke!

Thanks for the compliment!

I've always like the 2-tone and was actually considering a 2014 in Ruby Red with the Adobe (gold). I wasn't sure about the new Caribou 2-tone but after seeing it in person, it really looks sharp and is a nice change from the Adobe that Ford has had for so many years.

NICE Truck! That Caribou 2 tone and the new King Ranch leather is awesome. You are right about the smell, it is like sitting in a new high dollar leather coat. Very comfy.
