Removing trim strips on doors

Has anyone removed the trim strips on the exterior of the doors?

Have the tuxedo black truck and I clean my truck pretty often but the plastic trim seems to be fading to a lighter shade of black.

I'm debating just pulling them all off.
Has anyone done this?
If so is it simple? Just use a heat gun and then pull off?

Don't do it unless you like rock chips and door dings. Those trim pieces protect you more than you think. I don't have them, and I wish I did. That being said, go to your local parts store, and ask for aircraft trim and decal remover. You spray it on, wait 15 minutes, then the trim and adhesive pull off really easy.

Thanks for the info. Guess I might reconsider. But the unmatching colors bother me

Hey Bryce, those 4 pieces cost $600.00 installed after the fact, I know, I looked into it when my truck didn't come with them. I hear ya about them fading but be careful what you wish for my friend.

Have you tried polishing and then waxing them? It might help hide the fading color.

I haven't tried waxing. I'll try this and some other polishing methods and if that doesn't work they are coming off haha
