Ford pulls 8x its towing cap.

I was watching Gold rush last night And there was a scene where they were hauling a mining machine called beg red 35 miles to a new site. well the rig got stuck climbing a hill. when a ford supper duty pulls up hooks up a chain and starts to pull this rig up the mountain, the show's narrator explains that the pick up truck It's pulling 8 times more then its towing capacity, That was great to see.
Anybody else see this ? Right on FORD.

I dont have pics but I have pulled a trailer weighing 42K with my 350 before. It was an emergency but it did it. I have also pulled a Semi out of a ditch so figure it weighed 80K. Now the real story.

goose neck Trailer 6500lbs 6 road plates at 6K a piece pulled 3 miles with police escort and very minimal brakes. Trailer was rated for 20K

pulled the rig out I was on dry pavement and he was in slimy mud. He was helping with his power. Simple physics says that truck was helping him. Now I have done alot that my truck is not rated for but I cant just hook up to 80K load and pull it. They sit and talk about how big some of there equipment is on that show but really with the eception of the D8 most of it really is not that big. Its waht you see working on the side of the road any day of the week. Just my .02 cents

Also, who knows if the rig was actually stuck? It could have just been written in for the show. Well technically if it really happened he wasn't stuck. He just lost momentum and started spinning. Still impressive if it really happened, but like mentioned above I am sure it was exaggerated to some extent for TV.

Just seen that episode. I'm sure it was exaggerated as well but the road was pretty loose rock and dirt and the load was heavy on the back so it kept the drives from getting good traction and pulling the hill. Still impressive IMO.

That phone call went to all the auto makers to see who wanted to save the day.

Isnt Ford a sponsor for that channel anyway?

Well, looks like this Subaru has our trucks beat. Probably pulled 20 times its weight!

Anyone else notice that Super Duty in Gold Rush had no Power Stroke badges. Must have been a 6.2L gas?
