Burning rubber? REGEN?

What screen shows that the truck is doing a regen, I was driving home today in town, in traffic, and was not looking at the cluster much, I had the screen set on trans temp and oil temp page.

When I pulled in the garage, the smell of hot truck ( like hot rubber) was around.

I checked under the hood and no burning rubber smell there. The smell was Just coming up from somewhere.

Do you all remember your trucks first regen? Did it make a bit of a smell?

P.s. The parking break was not on!

Thanks.

I wouldn't even say it could be due to the first regen. If it's that new I'd probably say it's just due to things getting broke in, worn in, some friction, etc. I definitely remember some burning/different type smells the first couple weeks.

It's just that it has not made that smell until today. I've had it up to op temp about 5 times from in town driving pulled back into my garage, stood there and admired it! and today was the first time it has smelled.

I now have 15,000 miles on mine. It sometimes smells stronger that others. I wonder if sometimes something has splashed up on the DPF and is either still wet or has dried residue on it.

I had the same experience when brand new. I had driven it about a week, and I pulled into the drive smelling that burning clutch/rubber smell very strongly. It lingered for a good while as the truck cooled, but the next drive cleared most of it out. I have smelled it a few times since, but not to the same extent. I attributed it to a regen as well.

I have about 9,000 miles on mine and it smells about every time it does it. A lot of times I miss the message and won't know it was cleaning until I stick it in the garage and get out. How often do you drive the truck long distance?? If not often I would just take it for a long drive and let it do its thing completly,

Thanks guys, it just worried me because I'm heading out soon on a 1730 mile road trip!

I'm thinking it must have been a regen, I hope!

Send a message via Yahoo to wvrrcarknocker
Stickers burning off or if you have the factory undercoating, some it on the exhaust will smell like rubber burning off. Hope this helps.
