2013 F250 First Repair - Key Won't Go In Ignition

So I got off work yesterday and went to start the truck, started fine with remote start. Went to put the key in and no dice. Tried moving the wheel, turning off remote start, locking and unlocking the truck. Nothing. Called Ford, they towed it off to the dealer so hopefully I will fin out today whats the issue.

Key will not go in the ignition, the safety plate that comes down and blocks the whole, I guess from flat head screwdrivers looks to be the cause. Will know more later.

Anyone else had this issue or similar?

WOW!! That is a new one. I did not know there was a "hole blocking" device in the lock?? Many have a spring loaded dust cover.

Sounds like someone tried to "borrow" your truck though. Sad part is, , , Ford is not going to warranty an attempt to steal the truck or any damage caused by the attempt. This bill is going to your insurance company or your pocket. I figure a new ign. lock and the tow bill will add up pretty fast??

Good Luck and please keep us posted on what happens.

It was sitting at work underground garage and people who smoke are always outside in eye sight of it. I didnt see any signs of forced entry. I bet it's faulty and I am going to push that case as well.

So it wasn't broken into. The ignition cylinder had an issue. The dust gate looking thing wouldn't go back up because of a broken pen in side. They had a replacement cylinder in stock so they went to install it and it too was missing some pins. So they had to get new pins as well. I will post the exact issue on the form later for yall in case anyone else has this issue. Got it back and it works great so far. Need to test my second key...
