Cetane Booster Mandatory?

So I picked up my brand new leftover 2012 (manf October, 2012) F350 6.7l crew short bed SRW this week.

While I was doing all the paperwork, the dealer told me I have to run 4oz of Cetane Booster per 25 gal of fuel. Do all the dealers tell buyers that?

I plan to run it, just curious if the Dealer is trying to force extra product on me or if the new trucks really need it. I've read the multiple threads and I understand it is cheap insurance against bad diesel fuel. I do plan to run it. Just want to know what others were told when they picked up their new trucks.

I picked up my bran new 2012 in April, and I wasn't told that I "had" to.

Thanks for the comment. Really loving this truck. It's a Stampede 2150-2 deflector. Never been a big fan of deflectors, but it save the hood edges from rocks chips and looks pretty sharp.

Pretty cheap pricing on amazon.com

Same here...not a huge fan of the look of most of them but this is my first new truck and I intend to keep it that way as long as I can. I already ordered floor mats (weathertech) and mud flaps (duraflap). Bug/stone shield on the hood is the last item I think I want to get now.

Sounds like you're on the right track. I made similar purchases at first.

+ 1 for duraflaps and Weathertechs. I also have a lowpro Truxedo tonneau and it's nice to have a dry bed when you need it.

2012 F350 CCLB 3.55 ELD with 20s. Lariat package, Chrome, FX4, Clearance Lights, Rapid Heat, Two Tone, Upfitters, HD Alternator, 5th Wheel prep, Truxedo Lo Pro Tonneau. Linex. On board air and shocker XL train horns.

THIS THING ROCKS!

Just double dosed my '13 today for the first time with diesel kleen silver bottle. Wasn't told I had to do anything but I intend to keep it in good shape. Gonna run a single dose from here on just to sleep better at night.
