Re Gear necessary?

I have a 4 inch lift and 35" tires. I believe the truck has 3.31 gears. I am looking at getting a 5th wheel camper somewhere between 13-15K. Do I need to have the truck re geared?

You should find out what gears you really have for sure

I think 3.55's would of been the better choice, but don't think you will have any issues with 3.31's and 15K.

Not sure on wheels I bought the truck used. I have the window sticker somewhere and 95% sure it has 3.31 gears. 20 inch wheels with 35" Hankook Dynapro ATM's on it right now.

if its got the 3:31 gears, it may pull it, but you are not going to be impressed with the fuel mileage.

I tow fairly heavy almost daily and can tell you that a lower gear (3.73 or so) will always be nicer to drive even at the expense of a little lower fuel mileage. Just something to think about if you're going to be towing that 5th wheel a lot.

Won't be a lot maybe 10-15 trips a year. I would have gotten a 3.53 or 3.73 if I was buying new. Just not sure if the cost would be worth it to change it now. I'm not even sure how much it would cost.

I have towed my 13.5K 5'er over six thousand miles using my 3:31 rear end. I get average of 12.3 MPG on the lie-o-meter while towing. Plenty of power, now issues at all. I do have 18" wheels though.

One thing to remember is with that lift, your hitch will need to be adjusted for clearance.

I'm looking for 3.31 gears if you do rear gear.
Thanks,
Deo

I wish Ford would have offered a 3:73 for the SRW from the factory. Seems like it should have been 3:55 or 3:73 option instead of the 3:31.
