6.7 MPG

I have a 2014 F-250 4x4 6.7 on order. I ordered it with 3:31 final ratio. I was surprised to see this ratio offered, 3:55 is the highest I've seen in past years. I see a lot of posts regarding fuel economy, but not much mention of gear ratios. Anybody know what kind of mileage to expect compared to 3:55? I will be towing my boat on weekends, and my 63 VW Panel van to shows occasionally. I use my F-450 for heavy hauling. I'm a newbie here so go easy on me.

3.55's usually come with 20" wheels, while the 3.31's come with 18" wheels (max). The result is the final ratio is about the same, so there doesn't seem to be a significant difference in milage between the two ratios for most stock configurations.

My 2012 F-350 came with 3.55 gears and 18" wheels. I average approx 17.5 combined city and highway and have seen as high as 21.7 on the interstate. Mine are a bit higher than stock from installing a Bank's Automind tuner.

I am getting ~19 mpg driving back and forth to work right now (more highway than city) - I have a 3.31 rear end and 20" wheels.
