help!

Just bought a brand new 2013 6.7... the best mpg i am seeing is 12 mpg hwy and 8 in the city. That is off the computer but when i figure the avg its pretty close. Many of my peers are getting 17-18 mpg. I have called the dealer shop and they say it needs to break in and they wont be able to see a problem unless it is throwing a code.... Has any one else experiences this poor mpg and if so what was the problem and remedy?

Mine was getting 13-14 in the city when I was brand new, heck it got 11-12 mpg pulling my 27' toy hauler with less then 1,000 miles on the odometer.

I work for a Ford dealer in Denver, the mpg I have seen for the 6.7 have been all over the place, it just depends on what speeds your going, if its a F450 or F350, I have also noticed that if you run 10w30 it helps the milage over 15w40.

Fill us in on what you're driving. If you've got a low geared dually I would be surprised at that mileage to start. I have had an F250 and F350 both short bed crew cabs with 3.31 gears and 18" wheels both average around 17 mpg for me.

Angry

It's a f-250 crew short bed. All stock equipment. I took it to dealer shop today and they said their computer shows it's getting 16.6. which I would be thrilled with. However, I haven't seen any thing over 12 and I am figuring it myself every fill up. Also they said the regen history shows an avg of every 400 mi, also I would be thrilled with, but it is regening roughly 3-4 times per tank. Yes I let it complete it's cycle every time. I don't know why the computer is lying to them but i get aggravated like they are trying to make me out as a liar. It actually had a regen right before I took it today and it didn't show up in the history?? I drive it like a granny. Only have 2200mi on it. I wish they could find something wrong.

Sounds a little fishy to me...if the truck isn't logging everything that happens then it's not right. The mileage and regen intervals that they're saying sound about right, which apparently is not what is happening for you.

Desperate

Ok so I now have 5500 mi and no improvement in mpg. I have tried to get the ford mechanics to help but unless the computer tells them something is wrong they can't figure it out. They said everything is as it should be and if their is no codes, they can't do anything. I am avg 11 mpg now. 8 in town. My regens are now on avg every 50 mi. It has developed a shutter around 40mph. I have called ford customer service since I can't get any help from the garbage ford house and their remedy was "go to fuel economy.gov and look for tips on how to conserve fuel." Ford is about to lose a loyal customer. Never thought I'd say it but thinking of crossing over to the dark side. I cannot afford to drive this truck at this rate. Has anyone had this issue and what was the problem? I am desperate at this point.

That's ridiculous. Unless your foot is REALLY heavy...something is not right.
