Dealer wants to replace my A/C evap core...what!?

Its a 2011 KR diesel. A/C doesn't blow cold. Claim its a pin hole leak in the core and that it will cost 2k to fix. Truck has 39k on it.

I heard something about Ford redesigning something in this area. If that's true, why am I paying for it? It's kinda ridiculous on a 60k+ truck the core gives out in less than 40k miles.

Anyone else have this issue or know about it?

Thanks!

How are you not under warranty for a/c? Or are they saying road debris caused it? If the latter, that's what we have car insurance for

That's bumper to bumper, A/C core apparently isn't covered.

It costs so much because of the labor to remove and install the dash to get to the core.

I know, but how the heck did this happen?

Has Ford ever helped someone who is very close to the warranty finish line?

3yr to 36k bumper to bumper
5yr 60k drivetrain
5yr 100k diesel engine

If you have all your service done at that dealer ask them if the can P05 warrenty it if not call Ford service hotline a try and talk them into warrenty it for you.

If that doesent work got to the parts story buy a couple cans of the r134 refrigerant with stop leak and charge your ac your self its really easy

Dealers have a warranty liaison there (if it's a blue oval store) to handle any customer issue. If u call the factory and cause a stink, they get up the dealers *** and that liaison can "extend" the warranty for u as a courtesy. Saw it several times when I used to work at a Ford store in Colorado
