Which Gear Ratio would be better for 35s? 3.31 or 3.55

Hey guys I am about to order my truck from the dealer and I am trying to figure out which gear ratio to go with. Will one be better than the other if I want to run 35s? I want the gear ratio that will get me the best mpg when I step up to 35s and the ratio that I will be happy with in the future. I know my duramax im trading in has 3.73 and they seem perfect for my 35s. Can someone please tell me which ratio would be better for me and the benefits of each ratio. I just don't want to mess up and get the wrong one.

Thanks,

Cole

3.55. You can only get 3.31 with the stock 18s anyways. If you was going to leave it stock size tires and wheels and do alot of highway I would say 3.31 but the 3.55s seem to fit everyone's needs

Pretty simple answer: 3.55s. You'll burn more fuel with the tall 3.31 and 35s.

Enjoy the new truck when it comes in

i had 3.55 and hit 6th gear at 40mph. Have 3.31 now with 33s and dont hit 6th till 50mph. Gearing is low enough in the new trans i'd go with 3.31.

3.31 gears with the bigger tires are going to be really tall. IMHO the 3.55 gears are just right for these trucks.

I have 35"s (285/75/18 Toyo M/T) with 3.31's with 800ftlbs at 1600 rpm I can honesty say I can hardly even tell the difference over the stock 33.2" tires (Connti 275/70/18 AT's).
