Airbag Install With Stock Under Bed Hitch

Well I'm going to try do another write on my '2012's airbag install.

First off read the instructions and use them, I do; but here is the highlights with pic's

I first read and read and read just to make sure you don't miss any thing and have a good idea of what your going to do.

then I lay every thing out

You start off by removing the bump stops. Then next you put on the drivers side upper mount in ( which is a $#%&*&!@#*%&**%$!&*& ) I took the idea from another person that did one and got a shorter bolt and added a second washer on the inside. Still had to grind the nut a little to fit between the frame and hitch side plate.

The pass side is a cake walk

Then you put the top and bottom plates on the airbags placing the carriage bolts where they need to go.

Then you place the bag in place making sure the bolt goes through the frame where the bump stop used to be. you also line it up with the upper bracket already installed.

Also make sure it's sitting on the block arm

A few of the pass Side

Then you put the L brackets on that hold the spring bracket bolts

Then you put the back bracket on

Then you put the carriage bolt trough the bottom plate and put the axle bracket on

Last you run the air lines how ever you want I run mine through the frame and put the valves in the bumper.

All done... also notice the heat shield on the pass side .

Thanks For reading TWINJRACING

Twinracer, thanks for posting this! Looks like I ordered the same air lift bags as what you installed. Where did you go to get the shorter bolts for the upper brackets? Something I can get at Lowe's?

I also ordered the SmartAir compressor from Air Lift and will be doing the optional kneeling switch.

Twin, is that shorter bolt for the drivers side or passengers side bracket?
