My 14' Platinum cancelled

Looks like the rumor mill from a pretty good source says Ford will be introducing the next generation Super Duty Chassis in MY 15'.
About time....

Interdasting. Now I'll need to wait another 2+ years to let FMC fix gremlins.

I just sent my friend a text on Saturday saying that the Superduty is about due for a major overhaul...they've been using the same body for about 15 years now and only tweaking some of the styling every few years. Yes, they've changed motors, front clips, mirrors, tailgates, some of the suspension etc but it has only been a few things each year. Time for a complete change.

So you cancelled your '14 Platinum order to hold out for the new body design that's coming on the '15s?

That's pretty cool. I'm interested to see what they're going to do. Are they changing the look of the truck again, or just the frame?

Re: My 14' Platinum cancelled

I was just wondering the other day if you were still on here. I hadn't seen you post in awhile. Can't wait to see what they change. Do you know if the engine and powertrain will stay the same?

The F-150 will be changing as well, but so will the SD. They simply have to, and the truck must lose a LOT of weight to gain mileage...
15 years is a long, long run, and with Dodge raising the bar, and GM building their new platform in a HD, Ford must follow in order to keep the lead.
More importantly, the 16' Federal fuel mandates kick in for big rigs, so I assume small diesels must also tighten up their fuel mileage to comply. Peterbilt Motors have already started phasing in new 16' changes on their 14' models in order to ramp up smoothly. Last year, Pete totally dumped drum style brakes in favor of lighter disc brakes By 16', the 389 may be gone.

I would expect the same aluminum body panels, and other lighter, more aerodynamically sound parts to make their way. I'm guessing the Atlas Concept will be more Super Duty than F-150, and I am GOOD with that look..

With any luck, we'll see something totally new by this time next year.

Dodge raising the bar? Yeah a truck thats known for rear axleshafts flying out at highway speeds is raising the bar LMAO.

GM is just putting new touches on the 90-99 Silverado and calling it all new.

I'm sorry, but Dodge hasn't raised the bar... They're getting better, but still arguably on hind tit.

I've been searching for more info on a possible overhaul but can't find anything useful. Anyone been able to find reputable info?
