DEF Light

I get up yesterday and drive to work and the DEF light comes on saying I have 746 mile til empty. Then at lunch yesterday when I turned the truck on it said 1251 miles til empty. Now everytime I start the truck it says 1251 miles til empty and I have drive 220 miles. I have also filled the tank up last night with 2.5 gallons so now it is full with the same message?

Did you fill it totally full or just add 2.5 Gallons?

When it's almost empty. 2.5 gallons is not enough to get it to reset the error message. Tank holds 5 gallons
