As a celebration to President's day, I tackled my truck dash.
I finally figured out how to remove the center bezel that surrounds the radio, climate control, etc. There is a notch in the lower left 12v outlet plate that allows you to pop it completely out, behind it is a 7 or 8mm screw. There's also one behind the Sync USB audio out plate on the lower right. after you take those two screws out, you can pull the hole piece off then just disconnect all the plugs that are attached. Getting the vents and all that stuff off is pretty obvious. After I got everything off, the wrapping began. I have a huge roll of black metallic 3m wrap (looks just like Tuxedo black).
it went fairly decent. Found out a trick for corners etc. I had about 5 inches excess around the whole thing, I placed the sheet over the complete piece, gently then I hung each corner off my kitchen counter top with the excess taped right onto the counter top. Then I heated the wrap with a heat gun as I slightly pulled the bezel and the wrap laid right down over the bend and the curves. I did that for all four corners.
I like it better than the wood grain, and not a bad project. I'm guessing it took about an hour.
