Total engine failures and build date thread
So these trucks have been out for about exactly three years now. I think everyone here would greatly appreciate those who have had total engine failures to tell us when your engine failed, but most importantly, when your truck was made. I don't remember a thread like this that already exists, so please forgive me if this is a re-post. My truck was born in may of 2011 and I HOPE it's going to be ok.
BTW, it's valve failures I'm most concerned about. |

What will worrying do? If it will happen it will happen.

Let's please try to keep this on topic.

Good luck keeping this on topic. I am with manny, I would rather not know about all of them.

OP, How has your truck been running? Mine has had zero issues with a build date of 3/3/11, she runs like a raped ape and I attribute this to regular maintanance and Ford getting this Engine 99% right.

Mine was built 8/11/10 and I bought it used on September 15th, 2012 with 59,000km (36,660 miles). Only problems that were on the oasis report were the NOx sensor replacement and some other small sensor I can't remember. I've put 16,000km on it since then and the only problem I've had was frozen urea due to the extremely cold temperatures where I live in northern Manitoba, Canada. Does any one know when Ford fixed the weak valve problem?? I'm pretty sure with my truck being an August build I'm in the clear for that.

I believe the valve issue was on the CC trucks.

I mean no offense, but I've read about valve failures in the pick up trucks too. That's why I want to see if we can put together some data. I thought I've seen even a 12 with a valve failure.

I made a quick survey of the "engine problems" forum on this site. I found 4 reports of valve failures and at least two of them were in regular pickup trucks. I counted 10 total engine failures including the 4 that were valves. I counted at least 23 reported turbo failures.
Quick summary: -rod failure reported 12-4-10 by ford4once -valve failure reported 8-17-11 by srivera909 20k miles -thrown rod reported 11-22-10 by mysticblu999 11 f250 180 miles -unknown engine failure reported 11-7-11 by TThrew 11 f350 55k miles -engine failure reported 6-12-12 by lilRichard 11 f250 30k miles -valve failure reported 7-21-12 by Terryroney 167k miles 11 f350 -valve failure reported 5-20-11 by Highmaster2 40k miles F350 -valve failure reported 8-17-12 by DGL 22k miles F250 -2 engine failures reported by dback 9-12-12 one F350 one F550 (may be questionable?) Anyone willing to help with this project? |

You spent how long looking for that? ford sold how many of these trucks and you found 10? hmmm i don't think you should be worried about it or have to worry about it. even cummins has blown motors any motor can blow by one little fault obviously these engines are good.
