Heated Mirrors - 2012 F250 Lariat - Are they automatic or not?

I have a 2012 F250 Lariat and in the manual it shows the Rear Defrost is a dual switch and also shows a logo for the heated mirrors on the same switch.

However in my truck I only have the Rear Defrost Symbol and one light.

Are my heated mirrors automatic or do they kick in with the rear defrost. I have been told boths stories and I find it hard to tell when they are acutally working.

Though I have seen snow melting off them, today I went to carwash and hit the rear deforst button, the ice stayed on them the whole way home.

Anyone know the real answer? Thanks

I have the same switch. When I turn on the rear defroster the mirrors come on as well.

I know on the 2011 they were just automatic. I have no switch on my truck.

Not related, but another truck in on coming traffic smacked my mirror today. Those SOBs are $1k each!!!! Guess mine will be sporting duct tape for a while

I think they are Auto. I dont have a Heated mirror switch with my Lariat either. They work fine and I have had ice on them and they defrost.

Checked owner manual today, 2012 says its a button with wave looking markings.

Mine is one button for the back glass and mirrors

My 2011 is a Lariat without the rear window defrost and it has a switch for the mirrors. I can confirm that they are not automatic as I watched the ice start to melt AFTER I pressed the switch. They will however come on when the truck is remote started.

Mine has that same button, but has a Little "R" beside it. So maybe its all in one. When you turn on the Rear Defrost it engages the Mirror defrost, or visa verca.
