Brakes?

I have a 2012 F-350 that I recently bought and it has just under 2000 miles on it. My question is this, when I put my foot on the brake and go to put the pickup in drive or reverse, the brakes make an awful noise as the transmission goes into gear. It doesnt make noise when coming to a stop or any other time, just when shifting from park to drive or reverse. Is this normal? It is pretty annoying.

It's hill start assist holding the brakes.

Hill start assist? This happens even when on level ground. This is normal?
