Camper Shell Electrical Wiring Question
I have a Leer XR camper shell on order; dude says he'll hook up the 12V light and 12V outlets right off the battery. Would there be any advantage (or disadvantage) to making the connection to an up-fitter switch instead? My thinking is that I could better control a potential battery run-down situation (ex: light left on) that way. I have no idea if this would be even feasible.
Could someone with more knowledge than I please chime it? Thanks in advance. |

I retract the question (as I don't see a way to delete the above post).
I have found out that the up-fitter switches only work key-on so my idea of using them will not work in this case. |

i read something awhile back about that pre 08 there was an easy mod for keeping the upfitter switchs live when key was off. Do a search for it if thats your situation. I honestly can`t remember where i read it but it was on here

that 12v light would need to be on a long time to kill two healthy batts
the light I would like to come on if I open the door at anytime so IDK if I would do anything different ? however I wouldn't run to the battery I would get 12 constant from the trailer harness |

why not hook it to the rear cab bed light? switchable on, or key on.

that's an idea it would also come on with the cab doors
just not if the truck was off and cab lights off and you lifted the camper top or wanted it to switch on from in the camper |
