OCVelo, I wasnt trying to sound disrespectful. If I came off that way I apologize. Im almost at the point of pulling the trigger on a lift. I do appreciate all the help from you and the guys at Pure. Im going with one of the two FOR SURE.

CT, what size rims is on the red one? 17s? The black one is nasty, thats the look Im wantin, but maybe not that big. Love the wheels too, digging those.

except wheel width. Tire width trumps wheel width.

To the OP: Similar scenario I just went through on my new SD. I spent countless hours learning the ins and outs of the various suspension types; 4-link versus radius arm, coilover versus reservoir, full deavers versus blocks and so on. I still don’t know squat about any of it but I will share my conclusions all the same.

I assume you will want the truck to ride better than stock on pavement, no problem there with either choice.

If you want to tow and it sounds like you do, I would think the 4.5” lift would be the better choice.

As for 4-link versus radius arm, this is where it gets ugly as everyone seems to have a strong opinion. My belief is that it depends on what type of off-roading you are doing. Serious rock crawling might make a good case for winning the 4-link versus radius arm debate but not by much in these lift sizes. While the articulation will be better on a 4-link, the strength will be better on a radius arm. So if rock crawling competition was your thing go with 4-link but if occasional rock crawling during hunting season, you’ll be more than happy with radius arm.

If none of that helped, then it boils down how you want the truck to look. As someone told me in another thread, be honest with yourself and you’ll get exactly what you want.

I went with the Carli PinTop kit. I added the full deavers and hi-mount stab with 37” Toyo’s. The ride is phenomenal on pavement. What off-road I have done (mild) it has taken it all without a single white knuckle moment. I will get it out for some more serious off roading this weekend I hope. The guy who installed my lift runs a ProComp leveling kit but had his Carli order in before I picked up the truck and ¼ tank missing. LOL Another friend runs Icon 4.5” Coilovers and another just installed a Fabtech 8” lift with 4” coilovers; both are supper pissed off after riding my truck. In their defense though, they both are running 22” wheels which I believe cancels out much of their lifts benefits.

Either way you go, have fun and be sure to get us some pics so we can all talk chit about who has the best truck!

Do you have a pic of looking down the side of the red truck? I would love for my truck to look like that but I don't like the tires sticking way out past the truck. If they are tucked under like I like them, I believe that yall might have changed my mind from a 2.5" lift and 35's to a 4.5 with 37's. Thanks.

I am going with Carli because I really dont plan on doing serious off-roading in my $60k truck, its going to see 90% highway. I have also rode in a Carli and a Fabtec truck and out of those 2 Carli takes the cake by a long shot.

Also have you towed anything with it yet? If so what was it and how much did it weigh? How did it handle? I know it may be a lot but I would appreciate it. I really want a setup like you have but I am concerned about towing a 5th wheel camper.

No problem, it was a bit long winded but hopefully it gives some needed perspective. I ended up running 18" x 9" wheels with 5" BS. They do rub the bumper tab on full lock so I will need to cut on it an inch or so. I originally ordered 17" but had to move up to the 18's due to lack of clearance.

I haven't had a chance to get any pics since the wheels got put on but I will put some up later today.

The only towing I have done so far is tag along, about 5k. Haven't decided on a slider yet and I won't need it till after spring. I will be doing my first goosneck haul this weekend to test it out (about 12k).
