Question regarding Avg. MPG on trip setting vs. Avg. MPG in fuel economy setting?
My last tank of fuel was the B-20 diesel fuel and I know it's supposed to clean your fuel system and better lubricating properties, etc.
The next two tanks are regular diesel fuel my mileage has increased noticably. This last tank (yesterday, going up to Yosemite) if I had the dash thing set in the trip mode (A or B) it shows "average mpg 16.1". Yet if I scroll up one to the fuel economy window (it's set at average the past 30 min.) the highest it has ever got was yesterday at 14.0.
I mean they're both showing a significant increase but why would one window show avg. mpg at 14.0 (and has never gone higher) yet the trip setting shows avg. mpg at 16.1?
I'm not complaining.....they're both an increase over what I was getting. Now I'm anxious to get my fifth wheel back on it and see how much that's increased.
I'm thinking I should go find another tank of the B-20 diesel fuel.
By the way, my truck has approx. 7,500 miles on it and I just dropped it off this morning for it's first service (the oil change notice came on at 7,200 miles) and tire rotation.
