Wierd Whining Noise
I am getting a weird whining noise from my truck lately. It sounds like its coming from the water separator, at least thats what I think that thing is under the drivers door with a yellow valve.
Its make a really loud whining sound. Sounds like an electric fuel pump in a muscle car or something. Any ideas? |

You are on the right track. Mine sounded like that and I didn't make the connection but when I changed fuel filters the noise was gone. Mileage was 26K at the time. I have learned to listen for it as a tell/tell for restriction.

That loud whine is the electric motor sucking air, or a restriction in the system. The restriction can be from a clogged filter or a kinked line. It will suck air if a line is kinked as well or if the air was not purges correctly after changing the filters.

Best place to get filter from? Part number?
How do you change filters on these new trucks? |

Damn I love this forum. I'm at 27k miles and just noticed the whining noise. Guess it's time for a filter

I just ordered MotorCraft filters from ebay for $58 bucks. There is a nice YouTube vid on how to do this yourself. Looks pretty easy.
