Evaporator Recall / Redesign
Got my truck back from dealer for Oil Bypass Plug failure which required lifting engine, and a week later my AC has failed. Green Dye leaking around evaporator core connection and out drain tube. I see from a couple of posts where others have had problems with core replacement, and from checking parts department, I see where there have been several revisions.
My question is this... Being this is not covered under warranty.... Has anybody tackled this and how difficult was it? And has anyone heard of Recall that may help cover this? With all the Revisions, I'm hoping maybe so. |

There is a known issue, version one the braze joints leak at the end tanks of the evap. Version two has dimples on the end tank, but the end points are incorrect, so once the tech installed it, they tweak the tubes and crack at the braze joints on the supply and return lines. Version three no issues so far. Worked one one with valeo and the KTP one this issue.
As far as self repair, if you feel up to it, you must pull the dash. Which is pretty simple, few brackets, bulk head connectors, |

Thanks for the "Confidence Builder", Yes I think it's got to be self repair, Truck was in shop for right at a month with no Revenue generated, so I will use the weekend to limit lost work time.
