Reflash and Tuner
Hey guys so I'm sure that I am a little behind on this one, but the place I bought the truck from just told me there was a recall to have the ecm reflashed, and nowI remember reading about it on here. Well I am deleted and tuned, I am not so much worried about finding a dealer to do it, I'm more concerned of how to set the tuner when taking it in. Should I return to stock tune, just leave it as is? Just don't want the reflash to screw with the tuner or anything. Or should I not even worry about it, I saw an old thread about this and people were having mixed results. But anyway bottom line is how should I approach getting this done being tuned and deleted, thanks!

Returning to stock for a ECM flash update is a lot of hassle for...what?
I guess it would depend on what is covered in the update. |

I have a 2012 F250 CC and I had this recall done back in about May. The one thing that I noticed is that my truck goes into regen more often. I have left my stock and will continue to leave it that way untill my warranty is expired. If I purchase an entended warranty I will leave it stock because I don't want to void the warranty on a $58,000 truck. I've heard that if the stock tune on these newer trucks has ever been removed at any time and then returned that it is recorded and can void the warranty. Does anyone else know if this is true or is this just a urban legend?

As far as I know they have not activated the recorder in the PCM's info. From my dealer.
To the OP if your running H & S I'm pretty sure the "stock" file that your tuner has in it is just A factory tune not actually the original tune for the vin of your truck, that being said even if you return to "stock" the dealer can still see that it's not the original file that came with the truck when they download it...but like previously mentioned you should figure out what is bein updated with that flash because if it's just engine stuff it's mostly likely not worth the hassle. |
