Off the lot and 1200 miles home, would you?
After all the reading and research, mostly here and I thank you, I'm finally getting ready to pull the trigger on a CC F250. My local dealer won't budge on the 2012's he has in inventory so I'm searching the www.
How would you feel about driving a brand new 6.7 off the lot and head home, say, 1200 miles. Any issues with a long road trip fresh out of the box? Would it actually be better in the long run? Would you do it? Thanks in advance I look forward to a daily dose of a PSD |

I would have no reservations what so ever. Enjoy!

Can't say there would be any issues. If it were me I would try and do some back road driving on the way back instead of all interstate. It would give the truck some stop and go breakin instead of one constant speed.

It would not be a problem at all, I have went out of state before and bought vehicles, enjoy the ride home and make a trip out of it!

i'm picking mine up in Idaho and then heading to Wisconsin and then Texas. According to the dealers there is no break in period they just reccomend varying the speed for the first few hundred miles and no towing until after at least 500.

Go for it! I bought mine about 4 hours away and enjoyed every minute of the drive home.

I wouldnt worry. Last few trucks got a good run out of the box about 2200kms. Always seems i get a new truck then get a job up north

Thanks for the replies.
My local dealership is quoting 8k off sticker with maybe a bit more wiggle room on the KR. Not much though. I can do better than that if I broaden my search and even accounting for travel to get there and fuel back, I'd save a couple k. I'm in So Utah and would travel as far as TX or ID if the price is right. I can't lollygag around too much or my selection dwindles. Thanks again. |

I've bought several trucks over the years from out of state dealers and driven them back home. Never had any problems. Just make a road trip out of it and enjoy.
