Regeneration depends on driving habits, fuel quality, etc. It is a function of soot being created. I have seen mine regen every 120-160 miles....so I don't think that's abnormal.
There are pro's and con's to this emission equipment.
It's nice to know we're not putting particulate matter in the air, something near and dear to asthmatic people. It's nice to not have a "smelly" diesel.
But, I do miss some of the smell of diesel exhaust, and it does take a toll on mileage (and our wallets - due to lower mileage, higher vehicle cost and maintenance).
I don't think there's a perfect solution.
